Shag on Sports Oh no. Not Again.

Sorry this update hasn’t come yet. That dastardly thing called life has kept me busy, and writing the recaps on these things are surprisingly time-consuming.

I do have the second match all finished, and I’ll tell you that it wasn’t even close. 1942 couldn’t hold a candle to Joey Harrington (now back with the Falcons). I’ll have the full recap either tonight or tomorrow.

Speaking of tonight, the Toledo Rockets  managed to beat Bowling Green in the first round of the MAC Tournament, and will face top seed Kent State (that UT did beat in the regular season, lets not forget). 7pm tip off, I’ll start the broadcast off at 6.

Coming up this Sunday during the pregame show of the Rockets/Falcons game, I’ll be talking to Matt Sussman of the Futon Report about the state of MAC Basketball this season, and a little about how Toledo and BG match up. In all actuality, we recorded it today, but seeing as Suss will be out of the freaking country, I think you’ll understand.

It’s a 4pm tipoff, scoreboard show starts at 3pm, the chat will run around 3:10-3:15.

A couple of weeks ago at work, I was pulled into a production studio and asked to read some copy for the Mud Hens Winter Fandemonium. In case you didn’t know, The Hens moved to WCWA (so that the other station can focus solely on the Tigers). I pick up the script, and immediately read the word “Fandemonium” in my best Top 40 DJ voice. The production guy (JD from WIOT) mistakes it for a bad Harry Carey, but loves it. And we end up doing the entire spot that way.

Enjoy the awfulness:

I’ll be doing the scoreboard shot tonight when the Rockets take on the Massachusetts Minutemen. How rough will this game be? UMass is averaging 88 points per game, and 2 players are averaging over 20+. One of them is a sophomore.

Tipoff is at 7:30 pm, coverage on WSPD starts at 7.
