Shag on Sports Oh no. Not Again.

Yes, I know I haven’t written anything in forever. But you know what? Shut up.

It’s good to know that for one day, the city of Detroit can forget about it’s crime, it’s corruption, it’s philadering mayor, it’s “aw-hell-naw-you-did-NOT” city council (I f-in’ love that video), and just revel in a fantastic sports nights for Detroit teams the world around. And I do mean “the world around”, because all of this happened away from Motown.

Where to even start? The Detroit Pistons finally remembered who they were and put down the 76ers. I don’t think anybody had the series in doubt, but I don’t think anybody thought the series would go 6, either. Their next round opponent is Orlando, and I just might have tickets to game one.

The Detroit Red Wings reminded us all that IT’LL NEVER BE HOW IT WAS BEFORE, by just whipping the ever-loving crap out of the Colorado Avs to sweep the series. I was kinda hoping that some of the bad blood would come back in this series… I mean, it’s Wings/Avs! It’s the playoffs! It’s bound to get dirty! Hell, the Cavs/Wizards series is dirtier than this snoozefest.

And the Detroit Tigers beat the New York Yankees 8-4, getting their first road-sweep of the pinstripes since 1966. Nate Robertson is still a bit shakey (although he looked damn good early on, just all over the plate), but when you’ve got Miguel Cabrera knocking in 3 RBIs, and Ramon Santiago and Magglio knocking in 2, you don’t need a fantastic showing, you’ve just gotta be competant. Hooray for competancy!

And hey… the Lions didn’t lose last night. Sure, it’s the offseason, but it helps.
