Some things should have never changed.
The NHL board of governors finally realized that yesterday, and are changing the schedule back to the way it was. No more 8 games vs. division opponents, that’ll be backed down to 6, and every team will play every other team at least once.
Some folks were calling for a move to the NBA plan. 4 games vs. division opponents, but you play a home-and-home with every team in the league. That’s fine, and as the article points out, it’ll be great for Detroit and Columbus, because that means less games with 10 o’clock starts. But I think I enjoy having more divisional games than 4 (that means 2 at home. Yuck.)
Still, while it was nice to see the Blue Jackets and Red Wings play twice in one week, it’s too much. Bravo to the NHL for using some logic.
